My first encounter with Barbie came as a real surprise. During the early 1960's my father was working in Michigan USA, one morning back the UK a parcel arrived addressed to me, to receive a parcel when you are a child is exciting but when you know it has travelled so far....well I'm sure you can imagine...
There she was my very first Barbie, by then many children were already proud owners but to me I felt I was the only girl in the world to own one!
As I grew older my interest changed from planning Barbie's life to that of dressmaker to the perfect model. So started the path to the rest of my life. Early attempts at fashioning an entire wardrobe varied from, well lets say ok to the WOW that turned out much better than I hoped, it's amazing how pleased you can be with something although others may dismiss it!
Since a child I have always loved just to mess around with fabrics. Now I use huge amounts of beautiful materials and trimmings but I can always manage to hang on to some spare bits just in case one of my girls needs another outfit.
I hope you enjoy your visit to this site and maybe it will somehow remind you of your first Barbie and the impact she may have had on your life.

As far as my memory goes I have always been interested in Barbie dolls. My first was probably the Blond "Dramatic New Living". My older sister had a brunette Bubblecut (I remember she was dressed as a Ballerina) but I thought she looked nasty.
As I grew older, my interest for Barbie faded away with the arrival of the "Superstar" face mold.
It wasn't until 1995 when I saw the "Solo in the spotlight" reproduction in a shop that I started to wonder what had happened to my childhood friends...

I have met Julie in 2003 while I was touring with a british musical. She had made the most adorable doll after the character I was playing for her daughter.
She soon noticed my interest and came back a few months later with a brand new doll... for me! We started talking and discovered we had a lot in common. Since then we have become the best of friends and I cherish all those times spent with her in the workroom, throwing ideas about dolls outfits, joking, watching films and eating junk food...
I've decided to make this website for her to show as many people as possible how talented I think she really is.
